Travis Scott is an American rapper, singer and music producer. His discography includes Rodeo (2015), Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight (2016) and Astroworld (2018). He was born Jacques Webster on April 30, 1992 in Houston, Texas. His mother works for Apple and his father is a businessman. Scott spent his early years by his grandmother in Missouri City. He attended Elkins High School followed by the University of Texas. He dropped out after 2 years to pursue music.
CAREER
Scott played the drums and piano as a child. He began making beats in 2008 and by 2009 released his first collaborative EP with friend Chris Holloway. He also worked briefly with OG Chess from 2010 to 2011. Scott moved to Los Angeles in 2011 to network and expand his career. He signed to Epic Records and Kanye West’s Good Music in 2012. It was supported by the singles “Wonderful”, and “Pick Up the Phone” featuring Young Thug. Scott’s 2017 singles include “Butterfly Effect” and “Go Off” featuring Lil Uzi Vert and Quavo. He collaborated with Quavo on the album, Huncho Jack, Jack Huncho (2017).
Astroworld, Scott’s third and most popular album to date, was released in August 2018 by Epic, Cactus Jack and Grand Hustle Records. The album topped charts in the US, Australia, Canada, Belgium and New Zealand. It was certified Platinum by the RIAA. Astroworld was led by singles “Butterfly Effect”, “Yosemite” with Gunna and Nav, and “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake, Swae Lee and Big Hawk. Sicko Mode peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified 4x Platinum. The accompanying music video has been viewed 165+ million times on YouTube.
